What is an Employer of Record?

The Employer of Record (EOR) serves as an intermediary in the employer-employee relationship, handling regulatory and legal employment obligations such as payment and payroll. While the EOR is the formal employer on paper, managerial decisions regarding projects, job duties, compensation, and terminations remain with the original employer or client

The Employer of Record is the registered employer of the employees in paper, hence the name Employer of Record. Nonetheless, the EOR does not have management or supervisory roles allowing you to test new Geographic Labor Markets without major Capital Investment. The client employer or the client still makes all the decisions regarding projects, position duties, compensation, and termination.

What does the EOR do?

Focus on your business

How is this different than Independent Contracting?

EOR ensures Compliance Monitoring, You don’t need to be familiar with the labor and tax laws of the country where you’re hiring, which is particularly beneficial for overseas businesses. The Employer of Record (EOR) ensures your compliance with all relevant laws, handling payroll processing according to local regulations. Staying updated on local laws is the EOR’s responsibility, saving you the hassle of monitoring compliance.

Engaging independent contractors internationally carries risks of tax and employment law violations. An EOR manages all procedures in compliance with your host country’s regulations, reducing the chance of penalties for non-compliance.
